Obituary of Ginger L. Kahler

Ginger L. Kahler, 45, of Iowa City, died peacefully surrounded by her family in Oregon, Illinois on March 14, 2016 under the compassionate care of hospice after years of battling pulmonary hypertension. Ginger was born September 25, 1970 in Phoenix, Arizona; daughter of Joseph Stacey & Evelyne (Gehant) McConnaughay. She married Scott Kahler on October 18, 2002. Ginger and Scott are members of Grace Community Church in North Liberty. She was a loving wife and supportive sister who had a passion for baking cookies and fundraising to raise awareness for pulmonary hypertension (PH). Ginger's family includes her husband, Scott Kahler of Iowa City; brother and sisters, Clark (Robin) Stacey of Texas, La Troy Townsend or Arizona, Jeff Boyenga of Illinois, Joe (Kathy) Stacey Jr. of Arizona, Lisa (Tom) Schrader of Illinois, Amy Boyenga of Arizona, Barbara (Tom) Altenburg of Illinois, Barbara Boyenga-Charon of Arizona, Misty Halti of New Mexico, and Demel (Tommy) Rivera of Arizona; Parents: Joseph Stacey of Texas and Evelyne McConnaughay of Arizona; mother & father In-law, Wayne and Dorothy Kahler of Iowa; siblings in-law: Doug (LaVonne) Kahler, Terri (Mark) Taylor, Greg (Laura) Kahler, Brenda Enlow, Randy Kahler, and Rhonda Kahler. Her family also includes many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. A gathering for family and friends will be held from 2-6 p.m., Saturday at the Gay & Ciha Funeral Service in Iowa City where remarks will be shared throughout the afternoon. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association in memory of Ginger.
