Obituary of Riley J. Reynolds

Riley J. Reynolds, age 22, son of Mike and Jen Reynolds, brother of Faith Reynolds, forever brother of Michael Shoemaker, faithful master of Lilly LuAnne, and dear family and friend to many, died from injuries received in a car accident Saturday, October 29, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm Thursday, November 3, 2022, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City where there will be a time of visitation for family and friends from 1 pm till services. Following services, a Celebration of Riley’s Life will be held beginning at 4:30 pm Thursday at the Moose Lodge in Iowa City. Family and friends are all welcome to come for an informal dinner and to share and support in memory of Riley. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his memory. Riley Joseph Reynolds was born May 26, 2000 in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Michael Joseph and Jennifer June (Newton) Reynolds. Attending Iowa City Schools, he graduated from City High School with the class of 2018. He grew up in the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Never leaving the Iowa City area, he worked numerous jobs for many years in the area. Riley enjoyed life doing everything he set his mind to. He liked to camp, go boating, hanging out with his friends, playing video games, enjoyed his music (Juice WRLD in specific), bonfires, scary movies, Halloween, grilling out, and pretty much was up for almost anything. He loved his family, spending time with kids, and animals; often rescuing ones that lost their way. His family includes his parents, Mike and Jen; sister, Faith; forever friend, Michael Shoemaker; faithful companion, Lilly; furry friend, Bob “Boo”; grandfathers, Albert Newton and Al Gute; numerous aunts and uncles, Brenda Nogaj, Tami Frantz (Tim), Traci Miller (Jeff), Sherry Reynolds-Miller (Ted), Deb Fossum (Randy) and Jon Newton (Lisa); cousins, Adam Nogaj (Lindsey), Allie Nogaj (Tommy), Kelsey Nogaj, Taylor Nogaj (Vonnie), KJ Smith, Steph Smith, Tate Frantz, Tim Rerucha-Miller (Ryan), Brittany Miller, Jordan Miller (Samantha), Paige Miller, Peyton Miller, Danica Newton, Bristol Newton, and Jim Wagner (Jen); great-cousins, Ava Nogaj-Moses, Evalyn Nogaj, Olivia Nogaj, Tre Coleman, Carson Miller, and Carter Miller. Riley was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Kay Ekwall and Lois Newton, and grandfather, Mick Reynolds.
