Obituary of Carol J. Eldeen-Todesco

Carol J. Eldeen-Todesco, age 80 of Swisher, formerly of the Iowa City area, died peacefully in her home Friday, October 28, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 2pm Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, where there will a be a time of visitation one hour prior to the services and following the services. Carol Jean Maresh was born July 23, 1942, in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of Lloyd and Bessie (Slezak) Maresh. Growing up in Iowa City, she attended schools here graduating from City High School with the Class of 1960. She then went on to the University of Iowa, where she graduated with her degree in Social Work. For many years while living in Iowa City, she worked as a Social Worker for Johnson County Social Services. She moved to Vero Beach, Florida in 1985 where she worked for several state and county agencies. She only recently moved back to this area from Florida. Carol enjoyed much in her lifetime: dancing, knitting, camping, cooking, baking, reading, and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes. Most of all, she loved her family. She found joy in hosting holiday events and being involved in her families’ lives. Her family includes her children, Edith Eldeen Alipio (Bobby Alipio), Karen Eldeen Ruth, David Conger-Eldeen (Cari Conger-Eldeen), Daniel Eldeen, Amelia Cepeda (Fausto Cepeda), Tammy Todesco, and Dan Todesco; grandchildren, Jennifer Portwood, Matthew Eldeen, Bradley Eldeen, Tracy Hoyt, Andrea George, Michael Hoyt, Josh Eldeen, Graeme Eldeen, Nielie Schaeffer, Beth Ruth Colon, Molly Koch, Cody Ruth, Matthew Conger-Eldeen, Rebecca Onyeani, and Edwin Cepeda; 22 great-grandchildren; Carol’s siblings, David Maresh (Joyce), Larry Maresh (Sandra), Thomas Detweiler (Nancy), Connie Detweiler Lamp (Ron), Deborah Long Griffith (Eric), Rhonda Hanson (Donn Johnson), Ramona Maresh, Russell Maresh (Barb), Rebecca Wade, and Rannelle Mayer. Carol was preceded in death by her parents; stepfathers, Elmer Detweiler and Jim Zwicki; step-mother, Rose Maresh; daughters, Angela Aldeman, Kathy Hoyt and Janice Stinnett; sons, Elden Eldeen, Walter Eldeen and Ronnie Todesco; husbands, Ronald Aldeman, Edwin Eldeen and Joseph Todesco; sister, Reyne Patterson, son-in-law, Bill Ruth and special aunt, Tillie.
