Obituary of Millie Zixin Brewer

Millie Brewer, age 23, passed away unexpectedly in Iowa City on December 10, 2022. Millie’s family will receive guests at Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service (2720 Muscatine Ave, Iowa City) on Saturday, December 17, from 1-4 pm, concluding with a funeral service at 4 pm. Millie was born February 8, 1999 in China, and later adopted on August 20, 2000 by her parents, Stanley Brewer and Susan Jacobi. Millie had a creative and curious mind, was strong-willed with clear opinions, yet empathetic. She was an accomplished clarinetist and pianist and a talented writer. In 2021 she graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing and a minor in Music. She kept busy with her friends and sorority sisters, as well as volunteering. She loved shopping with her sister and spending time with her family and pets. Her passing leaves an emptiness in our lives, but her warmth, kindness, and quirky personality will be remembered by all those who love her. Millie’s family includes her parents, Stan and Susan; sister, Suzy Brewer; grandfathers, Paul Brewer and Donald Jacobi; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Sadly, Millie is preceded in death by her grandmothers, Mary Brewer and Mayme Jacobi. Memorial contributions in Millie’s honor may be made to her family and will be used towards organizations that were important to her.
