Glenn Harold Shima

Condolences
I am so sorry to hear about Glenn today when I talked to Kayleen. I knew the day would come when I wouldn’t hear his voice, but I also know he is in heaven having fun with Irene and the rest of the family. He was one of a kind and always made us feel so special. We had so much fun with both Glenn and Irene with the bank trips for seniors, the potlucks, special events, going on bus trips to the casino and chatting on the phone! I’m glad he is pain free and together with his love of his life. To his family, please know how much he loved each of you and how proud he was of you all and your accomplishments. May his memory, jokes, his laughter and great conversations live on forever. God bless each of you and surround you with comfort at this time. Rip Glenn and give Irene a hug from us!
Ps. We were so blessed to share some great times with Glenn and Irene. They were two of the best! Hugs to you all.
Love,
Lanett & Daryl Siefers
We appreciate his long friendship with Uncle Jim--he was a good friend to us all. Jane Weno and family.
I worked for Glenn while I attended the University. He was one part good friend, and one part father. He taught me so much, and so much about life. His positivity was infectious and his humor was the best. I have passed many of his phrases and his advice on to my two daughters. What a great person, I will miss him.
Dick and Connie, Kayleen and Mike. I am sorry to hear about Glenn. It is our pleasure to have known and had great times when he came along! Thank you all for inviting us along to meet Glenn! We will get together soon.
Glenn welcomed Dave and me to the neighborhood in 1974. He did some of the finish work on our new home and remained a good neighbor and a positive influence on our three children all these years. Now our grandchildren all know Glenn Shima too. He will be missed. Christine Owen
Our sincere condolences to Glenn's family. We feel fortunate to have known Glenn through my brother Mike- who adored and treasured their friendship. Over the years we've enjoyed many stories and Glenn's kindness to our family. God's peace to you all & may he rest in peace.

Have known and waited on Glenn and Irene for so many years. He always had a joke for me. Such a fun guy to be around and treated me like I was family. I will miss him. Condolences to the family on your loss.
Kayleen & Mike, Connie & Dick and family,
We are thinking of you and the memories Glenn & Irene created. They were great neighbors- always kind to my family and me. It was fun to share a laugh when talking with Glenn. Farming was important to him. To paraphrase an old adage, “The hay is in the barn.”

Uncle Glenn was one of the funnest people I’ve ever known. He was always truly glad to see me, wanted to make sure I was “up to no good“ and doing well. Just thinking of him, his smile and the mischievous twinkle in his eye will always made me smile!
Glen was a great neighbor and a great friend I’m going to miss him
Glen was so good sending a Christmas letter yearly to me plus usually wrote a few words .
Just a few weeks ago in his letter , he wrote call sometime and let’s catch up .
Loved this guy growing up, always made you feel like family . I am sure my dad was welcoming him at the gates of heaven .
Darn it! WHAT a great guy! The best 'impish' laugh and 'look' ever! I met him in about 1968. I worked as a 'yardman' at Miller Brothers Lumber, on Kirkwood Avenue, in Iowa City. I delivered lumber/supplies to all the projects for Hubert Miller Construction. Glen worked as a carpenter for them. I was just a college kid, and he was a good ol' Farmer. HE had me go to other lumber yards to locate a 'fence stretcher', greased nails, and more stuff. WE all had fun at my expense!! I loved it. WE became friends at that time and were at it ever since. He was a 'self admitted BOHEMIE FARMER!..
My condolences to the Family. He is already having fun 'UP THERE".

Kayleen and Connie and families - so sorry to hear of your dad’s passing. He always had that “million $” smile. He and your mom were so good to Grandma Pat, we all enjoyed visiting her knowing we would see Glenn and Irene. They loved that polka music! Rest in Peace Glenn
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Glenn. Glenn always had a smile and a kind word to share. My mother and I worked with Irene at ACT for many years and were able to enjoy many picnic's in the country where the day was filled with laughter. Rest in peace Glenn.
Kayleen, Our deepest sympathy to you and Mike and all of your family. May your happy memories bring you much comfort.
So sad to hear that Glenn has passed. His Christmas card/letter to me this year asked for my phone number so we could call each other. He was a great neighbor and continued friend over the years, even though I moved away in '07. He was always smiling and ready to invite you into his home. I was blessed in knowing Glenn. He will be missed by so many. Rest in Peace, Glenn.

Rina and I share warm memories of Glenn. We purchased some land from him after he subdivided a forest on Sugar Bottom Road. He was our neighbor for many years. We are on our way south and we will miss the opportunity to give our thoughts to his family. He was a great guy !

I'm going to miss you Uncle Glenn enjoyed talking every time you called or I called you. Called you on Christmas to wish you a good one but you must of been busy. Thank you for accepting me for me, love you much. RIH till I see you again. Expecting that saying you always said when we talked " How the hell are ya kid". You made my day. You left me with a smile and a giggle when we hung up. I will always be grateful. Sorry for your loss Kayleen and family, Connie and family.
Connie, Kayleen, and family; Jerry and I sure are sad to know Glennie has passed on. Such a great guy, always smiling. We never knew anyone as skilled as Glenn was at burning ditches. We have so many good memories of him. Please whisper to him... Happy Trails until we meet again.
