Obituary of Joan Buell

Joan Buell, 90, of Iowa City passed away, January 25, 2023. A funeral Mass for Joan will be held on Saturday, January 28, 10 am, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church (618 E Davenport St, Iowa City). A rosary for Joan will be held at 9:30 am before Mass. Joan will then be laid to rest next to Leo at St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City. Joan was born August 31, 1932 in Greene, Iowa; the daughter of Clifford and Merle (Palmer) Bucknell She married C. Leo Buell on April 21, 1952. After raising her children, Joan worked many years for First National Bank in the Safety Deposit dept. at the Towncrest branch. Her family includes children, Christina Hendrick (Steve) of San Diego, California, Lauretta Doyle of Chandler, Arizona, Catherine Hansen (Brad) of New Berlin, Wisconsin and Mark Buell of Iowa City; Seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Joan is preceded in death by her husband Leo, her parents and two sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
