Hubel Family - it is with sadness that I write this today, but hope that you will remember all the great memories that you share. Your mom was one of the great ones! So down to earth and kind. I was lucky to be able to visit with both Dr. Hubel and Mrs. Hubel frequently in recent years. You children have many of the characteristics of both your parents. Seems like we have know each other forever. Prayers and thoughts to all of you. Mary Thoman Cross

Dear Kenn, Wendy, Nancy and Adam.
I was so sorry to hear about Jan’s passing. She was a wonderful woman and along with her mother, GG, a shining example of how to age gracefully and beautifully! Her vigor was an inspiration to many until Parkinson’s robbed her of that! I would see her at the North Liberty pool, swimming better than many half her age!! I’ll never forget the time she and Kenn had driven out to the Greencastle airport and while Kenn as enjoying aviation, she biked to her hair appointment!!
She was concerned that she’d be late so she “hauled butt” and was a little winded when she arrived!! I was amazed! That was no short jaunt and she was no spring chicken!!
She was proud and loving of her family, even when they chose differently than she would have chosen for them. Not judgmental... just accepting with unconditional love. I always admired that about her and tried to remember that when raising my own children.
She and Kenn were both very generous at helping me with a few bicycle issues and even kept my dog for me once when I went out of town and had a hard time finding a dog caregiver.
She was also a loving and patient caregiver to her mom. I enjoyed knowing Edith, GG, and saw where Jan got many of her qualities!
I’m so glad I had her in my life for about 40 years. She was a quality human being, and will be missed.

We are so sorry to hear of Jan's passing. She and Kenn were such terrific neighbors in the Fjords....we spent so many hours talking, laughing, and eating! Very sorry we cannot attend the Feb. 8 gathering as we are in California. Big hugs to Kenn and family. Paul Weller & Sara Rynes-Weller.
She will not be forgotten by the many lives who were brightened by her presence
RIP

Jan was delightful, warm and welcoming. She made an indelible impression on me as a young woman with her intelligence, thoughtfulness, and hospitality. Jan was strong in her sense of personal identity and had the most infectious laugh. She was a great comfort to me when my own mother died. I still have her roast beef recipe! What a lovely spirit.
