Obituary of Ronald C. McNabb

Ronald C. McNabb, 68, longtime resident of Iowa City, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 2pm Monday, April 25, 2016, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 noon on Monday until services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation can be made to Dave's Place (rehabilitation facility) @ 3140 Plank Road, Keokuk, IA 52632. Online condolences may be sent for his family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Ronald was born September 17, 1947, in Iowa City, the son of Ronald G. and Betty (Klumforth) McNabb. He attended Iowa City Schools, graduating from City High School in 1966. He had worked at both the local hospitals, Mercy and the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, but his most rewarding job was as a baker at the Sheraton Hotel in Iowa City, after attending baking school, he became a very good baker! He was baptized as an adult at River Community Church, and was a faithful member. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Iowa City, always finding reasons to be out driving in his car, but most of all, he loved his son Joey. And the two of them were tight as it gets. His family includes his son, Joseph "Joey" McNabb of Iowa City; sisters, Barbara (Dallis) Meier of Iowa City; Betty Lee Welsh-Fisher of Irvine, CA and Judith (Mark) Standard of Hanover, NM; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant son, Daniel.
