Obituary of Elizabeth Scott

Elizabeth Scott, age 61, died on June 1, 2023 following a sudden illness. A memorial service will be held at Good News Bible Church in Iowa City on Friday, June 16 at 11 am.

Elizabeth was raised near Wellman, Iowa, spending her childhood playing with cousins and enjoying rural life. She graduated from Mid Prairie High School in 1980 and was married to Kevin Hess a few years later. Elizabeth and Kevin traveled with the military but eventually settled back in the Midwest where they raised their three children.

Elizabeth enjoyed spending time with family and friends, attending her children’s athletic and music events, sharing old memories, and reading books.

Elizabeth is survived by her children Jayme Frye, Sara Hess, and Jason Hess; grandchildren Rebekah and James Frye; brother Michael (Kathleen) Scott; mother-in-law Patricia (Greg) Weber; brother-in-law Arthur Hess; sister-in-law Misty Bruner; and significant other Brad Emerson.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Margaret Scott; husband Kevin Hess; son-in-law Raymond Frye; and sister-in-law Alice Hess.
