Obituary of Mary Ann Kline

Mary Ann Kline, age 79 lifetime resident of Hills died Saturday, July 15, 2023, at the Hills Atrium Village.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hills, with burial to follow at the St. Stanislaus Cemetery near Hills.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Monday at the church.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in her memory to Hills Atrium Village.  

Mary Ann Kline was born July 11, 1944, in Iowa City, the daughter of Howard and Dorothy (Grothe) Kline.  She attended catholic schools as a child and graduated from Regina High School.  Entering the working world, she for a number of years worked as a nanny for local families.  She then began a career at the Veterans Administration Hospital that spanned over 25 years working as the travel agent for veterans transportation needs to and from the hospital.  Mary Ann cared for her parents as they aged and so enjoyed cooking for family and her friends.  A woman of strong faith, she was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hills.  As her health issues became more and more to handle, she made the decision to move to Atrium Village where she thoroughly loved caring for the outdoor flowers.  The friendships that she developed at Atrium were the sincerest and comforting to her.

Her family includes her brother and his wife, Denny and Claudia Kline; and nieces Alexandria Lee (Anthonie), Acadia Hemsted, Bayler Lumpkins, and Christina Lumpkins (Lee).  Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents.
