I send my condolences on the milestone passage of Raymond Lumpa and wishes for comfort to his dear extended family. Ray and all of the Lumpas provided an anchor of stability in the farm neighborhood I grew up in.
I'm moved to share a fond memory. I believe I called Mr. Lumpa after his father passed away inquiring if the family was going to sell one of the iconic Nash Airflyte cars that his father drove. I was all of about 14. Mr.. Lumpa instantly said, "You want 'em? Come get 'em!" For about 48 hours I was thrilled at the thought of driving such striking vehicles to school...until MY father said "you are not getting those cars." Happily my beloved cousins Paul and Mark secured them (and made them a better home than I ever could have. I'm glad my loving cousins continued the stylish tradition our dear Lumpa neighbors originated.
Again my condolences to all of our dear neighbors. -- David in Saint Louis
