Obituary of William F. Huber
William “Bill” F. Huber, 79, passed away unexpectedly Monday, September 4, 2023, of natural causes.
Bill was born in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Rita (Ronek) and Clarence Huber. Growing up in Dubuque, he attended Wahlert High School. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy serving aboard the USS Telfair. After returning from service, he married Janice Marie Ament in October of 1965. Bill worked at John Deere Dubuque Works for over 38 years, retiring in 2002.
Bill enjoyed life to its fullest, from his racing stock cars at area race tracks, riding his Harley Davidson, raising white tail deer to anything and everything outdoors! Bill was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting & fishing. He spent lots of time in southern Iowa at his hunting cabin in Cantril with his friends & family. He and his grandson Colten shared a special bond over their love of nature & hunting. They enjoyed discussing their deer stand stories each night around the kitchen table. He was looking forward to an elk hunt in Colorado next year with Colten.
Bill thoroughly enjoyed spending time with Tyler and Colten growing up and watching them play baseball, basketball and football. Bill & his grandson Jeff grew close spending time with each other on Grandpa’s acreage working outdoors.
Survived by his daughters, Tammy Witthoft (Allen) and Tina Leibold (Mark); grandchildren, Jeff, Rachel, Tyler, Denver and Colten; sisters, Denise Krug, Paula Pins (Jack); brothers, Karl Huber and Tom Huber (Kim); and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Janice, siblings, Jean Anne Grant, Mary Imbus, John Huber, brother-in-law Don Krug, sister-in-law Traudl Huber and nephew, Larry Grant.
There will be a time of visitation on Friday, September 8th at Derby Grange Golf Barn Pavilion (13079 Derby Grange Road, Dubuque) from 9 am – 11 am, followed by an interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Dubuque where military honors will be bestowed.
