Obituary of Robert W. Speers

Robert “Bob” W. Speers, age 68 lifelong resident of Oxford, died at his home, Thursday, September 28, 2023.

Funeral services will be held 10am Thursday, October 5, 2023, at St. Mary’s Auditorium in Oxford, with burial to follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Oxford.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday at the auditorium. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Robert’s memory. 

Robert William Speers was born August 20, 1955, in Iowa City, Iowa the son of James “J.R. Speers and Patricia E. (Potter) Speers.  He graduated from Clear Creek High School with the Class of 1973.  Working as a plumber, he owned and operated Speers Plumbing for over 28 years in the Oxford area. He was known to be a pretty easy going kind of guy, enjoyed singing Elvis at karaoke nights, playing golf, and an occasional indulgence of a cold Busch Light. Liked the Kansas City Chiefs and the Iowa Hawkeyes.  He was always willing to give a helping hand to those in need, but his pride and joy in this world was his grandkids!

His family includes his three children. Canon Speers, Adison Yoder (Jesse) and Kiley Speers; grandchildren, Maisyn Speers, Logan Yoder, Shaun Speers, Brielle Speers; and his siblings, Debra Scheetz (Joe), Rick Speers (Manette) and  Geri Swain ( Brian).

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and mother-in-law, Bonnie Brooks.
