Obituary of Catherine Johnson
We are here to celebrate the life and home going of Catherine “Cathy” Johnson. Cathy was born April 7, 1956, in Hollandale, MS. She was the eldest child of Nellie and David Gray. She leaves behind two younger sisters, Linda Shelton (Adrian Shelton) and Michelle Hudson-Barnes (Fitzgerald Barnes); and one brother, David Gray Jr., who passed away as an infant. Cathy gave birth to four children, Iesha Johnson, who passed away as a child, Tashiba Johnson, Clarence Davis, and Anthony Davis. Cathy was married to Clarence Davis Sr., whom she shared her two sons with. She had a host of cousins that she was very close to that were more like siblings. She also had several nieces and nephews. Cathy graduated from James H. Bowen High School in 1968. She continued her education to attend nursing school. Cathy then went on to become a substitute teacher for several years. She was raised in Chicago, IL, from the age of 3 and throughout her adulthood. Cathy moved to Iowa in May 2004 and lived there for the remaining years of her life.
Cathy was a very fun, outgoing and lively person. She was the life of the party and was always ready to laugh. More importantly, Cathy knew the Lord. She held strong to her faith until God called her home. During her final days, cousin Abe and cousin Leonard stood by her side, supporting and helping in every way. As well as her church family who came to check on her and pray with her daily, until her final moments. On behalf of our family, we would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support.
Services for Catherine will be held at 11:30 on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Resurrection Assembly of God, where visitation will begin at 10:30 am.
