Obituary of Margaret J. Shaffer

Margaret Jean Shaffer "Peggy" 64 of Coralville died peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family after a long fight against diabetes where she defied all odds till the end, Thursday, June 2, 2005. Funeral services will be held in Bellwood, Pennsylvania with burial in the Antis Township cemetery, Bellwood. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 pm Sunday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City. Online condolences may be sent for Margaret’s family through out website @www.gayandciha.com. Peggy was born in August 11th 1940 in Bellwood, Pennsylvania to Charles and Helen (Brunner) Wise, Sr. She was a passionate and talented country music singer, she was a member of Peggy Lynn and the Raiders in Pennsylvania and her music was played on local radio and TV stations. She worked most of her life as a care giver as a CNA. She was happily married for 23 years to Donald Shaffer, her loving and supportive husband. She loved to write music and to read the bible. She also attended classes at Kirkwood Community College. Peggy’s family includes her husband, Donald of Coralville, her children Kathy Stiver of Iowa City, Timothy Stiver of New York, and Kimberly A. Chiavetta of Cedar Rapids. 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Charles Z. Wise Jr., Shirley Rhine, Janet Rheed, Bruce B Wise Jr, William Wise, and Joy Glover all of Pennsylvania, Patty Gorcheff of Ohio and Deborah Stevenson of Iowa City. Peggy was preceded by her parents and 1 son, Herbert Stiver Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Margaret’s family and her services.
