On September 14, 2023, Shari Ann (Louis) Myers long jumped over the river Jordan, cartwheeled thru the Pearly Gates, and jumped into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. FUNeral Service #2 will be Nov. 4 NOON until 2pm in Iowa City at the Diary Queen located at 660 Eastbury Drive on the east side of Iowa City.
Waiting to greet heaven’s newest arrival were her father, Bud, mother, Betty, and brother Gary Louis. They had been one of Iowa City’s most well-known families. Shari was born in Iowa City on October 26, 1963. She graduated from City High School in 1982 where she was an outstanding long-distance runner, qualifying for high school state competition in both cross country and track. She also won varsity letters in those two sports in all four years of high school.
Shari was also an accomplished triathlete and member of the Iowa City Bike racing team. She competed in many fun runs and road races where she could show off her running ability. Sweet Shootin’ Shari could also ‘knock a speck off a bug’s behind at 50 paces’ with a .22 rifle.
On June 11, 1988, Shari was united in marriage to Jesus Vazquez of Omaha, NE. That union was blessed with three outstanding children, Ben and Joey of Early, IA, and Nena of Lincoln, NE. Eventually that marriage ended and on March 20, 2014, Shari married the love of her life and her soulmate forever, Jeff Myers of Newell, IA.
Shari was known for her many abilities, accomplishments, and her contagious smile. She loved everyone and was everyone’s best friend! She didn’t have a mean bone in her body and was known to many as ‘Sweet Shari’. She was an vey accomplished horsewoman and especially loved dogs, cats, and all God’s creatures (except goats).
A devout follower of Jesus Christ, Shari was known to hand out Gospel Tracts (thousands) to strangers and those she knew. She was an avid listener of BOTT Christian Radio and was a on a lifelong mission to spread The Word to all she met. She especially loved the Faith Bible Church in Sac City!
Simply stated, Sweet Shari was the best mother, wife, sister, and friend of all time. She went ahead of many loved ones and got to go to heaven early for good behavior. She encouraged everyone to remember “Carry on, keep smiling, the Best is yet to come!”
