Obituary of Frances Drollinger

Frances “Fran” Drollinger, 85, of Iowa City, Iowa, passed away Friday, December 29, 2023. No funeral services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, Fran’s family requests memorials be directed to your local animal shelter in her name.

Fran was born September 23, 1938, in Iowa City to parents Lloyd and Margaret (Vikel) Abbott. She married Charles Drollinger on January 13, 1963 in Solon, Iowa.

As a child and young adult Fran was an excellent horse rider, both competitively and recreationally. She was fond of animals in general, particularly dogs. Fran always had to have a dog. In the late 70s she even had a Great Dane that competed at various dog shows in the region. In her free time Fran loved ceramics. She was very artistic in general. Fran also enjoyed fishing, mostly at Lake Macbride or in the Iowa River.

Fran’s family includes her husband Charles and her siblings, Ralph (Terry) Abbott, JoAnn Dahnke.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her siblings, Val (Eugene), Benny, George, Lois, Donna Mae, and Joan.
