Obituary of Catherine M. Cahalan

Catherine M. Cahalan, age 65 longtime resident of this area died Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Lantern Park Nursing Care Center in Coralville.

Catherine Marie Cahalan was born May 20, 1958, in Biloxi, Mississippi, the daughter of John “Jack” and Genevieve (Benedic) Cahalan.  Family moved to this area where she attended Iowa City schools graduating from West High in 1976.  She worked a number of various jobs, including her favorite at Salvation Army where she felt that she did make a difference in those she was helping. But most dear to her was being Mom and Grandma to her family! She loved raising her three boys and took great pride in all of them. Cathy was known for her love of her family and her amazing friends. Cathy always had that beautiful smile on her face, especially when surrounded by her loved ones.

Her family includes her three sons, Ben Cahalan (Ashley), Will Lockray, and Jon Cahalan; grandchildren, Corbin, Christian, Carter, Ariana and Austin; her mother, Genevieve Cahalan; her siblings, Jerry Cahalan (Denise), Sandy Horrell, Michele Wolf (Dennis) and Steph Schnoebelen (Dave). 

Cathy was preceded in death by her Father, Jack.
