Obituary of Frances E. Hamilton

Frances L. Hamilton, age 89, mother of Marjorie Hawtrey of 534 S. Dodge Street, Iowa City died at her daughter’s residence Tuesday, January 17, 2006. Family services will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church in Iowa City, and other services and burial in St. Petersburg, Florida at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Frances’s memory to Iowa City Hospice. Online condolences may be sent for her family through our website @www.gayandciha.com. Frances Louise Eckler Hamilton was born August 31, 1916 in Falmouth, KY, the daughter of Lester T. and Anna Sutton (Moore) Eckler. She was raised in Falmouth where on February 1, 1935 she married Edward William Hamilton. The couple lived in Cincinnati, Ohio, Ft. Thomas, Kentucky, and St. Petersburg, Florida. Her husband, Edward died in February of 1985 in St. Petersburg. Francis continued to live in her home there until moving to Iowa City this past November to be closer to her family. Her family includes, daughter and her husband, Marjorie and Jim Hawtrey of Iowa City; six grandchildren, Michael Anderson (Sherri) of Norwood Young America, MN, Amy Anderson of Lamont, PA, Ben Anderson (Anna) of Cleveland, OH, Steve Hawtrey of Mt. Vernon, IA, Michael Hawtrey (Michelle) and Andrew Hawtrey (Jen) all of North Hollywood, CA; and twelve great-grandchildren.; and Frances’s godson, David Vega of St. Petersburg, FL.
