Dear friend Anne,
We only had fleeting glimpses at Chris and your good life with him in our regular Christmas video calls. Sadly now, he will remain a benevolent mystery to us. Reading the obituary gives us some idea why you two were such a perfect fit. We suspected he was an amazing person simply by your endorsement, and it's clearly true. This news is crushing to hear, and I'm furious that all my words and thoughts won't chip away your grief any more than a raindrop to granite. Anne, I remember you as the truest and noblest friend from long ago who in any just universe would receive the same love and joy you radiate to others for many more decades. I wish you'd have gotten more time with Chris for this. Please use the love of your family and community to heal. We're now far away by years and geography. I deeply wish I could hand deliver you some food and listen to you, as I know has been set up by your many local friends. We are ready to help and emotionally support in any you way need.
