Condolences
A friend just passed along this lovely tribute to Hank's life. I worked at the Yacht Club for Hank in the early 90s and will forever have fond memories of those years and interacting with Hank. He was generous and kind and fun loving and Im so happy to know he continued to live a rich and love-filled life after the Yacht Club days. Rest in peace to a true original. xoxo
Hank was one of my best friends in high school and college. He was always there to help when in need. We had many good times. The man had some very innovative and wild ideas. Can’t ever say he didn’t at least try a new idea. I only wish I had met Jane. I think of Hank regularly. My friend!
My condolences to you, Jane. What a beautiful life so well lived!
He decided not to suffer any longer which takes courage. This decision needs to be made easier with laws supporting medical assistance.
So sorry for your loss
I remember Hank as someone who always had a twinkle in his eye that was followed by a laugh or a joke. He was a warm and gentle person and I remember always having fun when he was around. After reading this beautifully written memorial to Hank, I know that he lived a very full life. I am so happy to know that his final moments were peaceful and that he was surrounded by those he loved. My heart is reaching out to all of those close to him and especially to Tía Jane.
My condolences to Jane in your loss. Although I haven't seen you in many years and never met Hank, I did follow you on Facebook, where you occasionally posted photos of you and Hank. He looked to me like such a kind man and from reading his obituary, I can understand what a perfect life partner he was for you, matching your adventurous spirit and sharing your environmental and social justice values. My hope is that the many memories you two made will be of constant solace. you are in my thoughts. Martha Maxon
I have so much love in my heart for Jane and Hank. I was only 6 when they got married, but Hank had already been a part of my life, and Jane has known me since before I was born! I will always remember Hank has a gentle trickster. He often seemed to get a kick out of making my sisters and me laugh and loved entertaining us. His artistry was fascinating to us, and we loved seeing what he would create next. I am grateful Hank could make his final decision in life with peace and support from those who loved him.
My condolences to Jane. I enjoyed working with him at CommUnity foodbank, he was a hard worker. I have learned of his artistic ways and attachment to the Iowa Great Lakes.
