Obituary of Patricia J. Roberts

Patricia J. Roberts, age 65 of 521 S. First Avenue, Iowa City died from cancer at her home surrounded by her family on Monday, December 5, 2005. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 9, 2005, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with the Reverend Rebecca Carver officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in her memory. Holmes Roberts was born October 21, 1940 in Homeplace, IN, the daughter of Hershel and Juanita (Shaw) Holmes. On October 21, 1956 she married Darrell B. Roberts in Noblesville, IN. The couple moved to Iowa in 1958 living in Kalona, Parnell and finally in Iowa City where they have reside for many years. Here she worked for Proctor & Gamble for over thirty years retiring in 1995 from the accounting department. Pat was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Moose Auxiliary. She enjoyed camping with family and friends, playing cards, games, and a most serious NASCAR fan! For a number of winters she and Darrell enjoyed spending winters in Mission, Texas. Her family includes her husband, Darrell; children, Darrell Roberts Jr. and his wife, Gail of Riverside, Robin Kron and her husband, Leo of Riverside, Dwayne Roberts and his wife, Jamie of Pierce, NE; grandchildren, Jeremy Roberts and his wife, Carrie, Jessica Roberts, Jennifer Roberts, Austin Kron, Kennett Roberts, Jesse Roberts, and Brandon Roberts; her mother, Juanita Holmes of Noblesville, IN; and two sisters, Phyllis Graham and her husband, Neal of Fishers, IN, and Pamela Freeman of Noblesville, IN. She was preceded in death by her father; great-granddaughter, Jordan Skyler Roberts, and a niece, Amber Freeman. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Pat’s family and her services.
