Lyle is one of the most distinguished, reverable human beings I have ever known. He passionately defended human rights and equality all across his professional reaches. When I was a graduate student at Iowa, he mentored me, supported me and was compassionate and kind to me in more ways I can now recollect. His research on crime in Racine Wisconsin is cited even today , almost two decades after his demise. He remains etched in my memory forever.
