Obituary of Jeanne Anderson

Jeanne D. Anderson, age 81, longtime resident of North Liberty died Thursday, September 5, 2024 at the Parkview Care Center in Wellman following complications of Alzheimer’s.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm (noon) on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City.  Visitation will begin at 9:00am Wednesday and continue until time of service.  Graveside services will be held at 4:00pm that day at the Ridgewood Cemetery in North Liberty.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in her memory to Iowa City Hospice. 

Jeanne Dorothy Murphy was born September 9, 1942 in Clinton, Iowa the daughter of James and Evelyn (Lutz) Murphy.  She attended schools in Clinton, graduating from Clinton High School.  On September 4, 1965 she was united in marriage to Roy Z. Anderson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.  The couple made their home in North Liberty where they raised their family and Jeanne owned and operated Jeanne’s Beauty Shop for many years.  She also helped her husband in the family business, Anderson Electric.

She enjoyed much in life, especially spending time with her family and friends at their cabin in Bluffton, Iowa.  Roy and Jeanne also have a home in Englewood, Florida where they spent many Iowa Winters. This also became a home where they loved to welcome friends and family.  They loved to travel and enjoyed winter snowmobiling trips in Iowa and Wisconsin.  If you knew Jeanne, you knew you could always find her in the kitchen cooking and baking.  Her recipes will be long remembered, shared and enjoyed.

Her family includes her husband, Roy; their children, Deborah Davey (Steve), Chris Anderson (Julie), and Craig Anderson (Christina); 8 grandchildren, Geoffrey Hoover, Thaddeus Hoover, Priscilla Hoover, Zachary Anderson (Carly), Ashley Ingerswen (Gage), Shannon Mincks (Nathan), Elyse Anderson and Easton Anderson; 3 great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Mincks, Lyanna Mincks and Rogue Anderson; six siblings, James Murphy (Mercedes), Janice Mussman (Edwin), Judith Fullick (Fred), Jack Murphy (Willa), Jerry Murphy (Priscilla) and Joseph Murphy.

She was preceded in death by her parents James and Evelyn, her in-laws Zell and Margaret Anderson; brother-in-laws, Edwin Mussman and Fred Fullick and sister-in-law, Vicky Murphy.
