Obituary of Sandra Louise Whittington

Sandra L Whittington, age 76 of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Iowa City died suddenly in her home Monday, November 11, 2024.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Friday, November 15, 2024, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with burial to follow at the Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City.  

Sandra Louise was born March 24, 1948, in Little Rock Arkansas.  Her family moved to Chicago where she grew up and graduated from Carver High School. She moved to Iowa City in the early 1980s where she worked for many years for the University of Iowa. 

Sandra was a women of faith, very active in her church, Christ Holiness in Cedar Rapids.  She enjoyed swimming, taking pictures, cooking, bowling and anything that involved her family.  Her faith and her family were her world!

Her family includes her children, Kim Walker and Lamont Perkins; grandchildren, Antonio Walker, Frankie Walker, Andre Walker, Jordan Brown, and Jayda Perkins; great-grandchildren, Adrian, Derek, Jahmal, Princess Andrea, Akiya , Kimora and Katherine; siblings, Anthony Bryant and Kevin Bryant (Tirza); host of other family including cousins, nieces and nephews especially Kimyca and Kimyl Tiondra, Trier, Keenan, Aisha and Barry..

She was preceded in death by her mother, husband, Jerome Whittington, brothers, Lionel, and Maurice and sister, Kim.
