Obituary of Treva Lou Kilgore
Treva Lou Kilgore, 92, of Washington, Iowa, died on December 15, 2024 after a short illness.
Treva Kilgore was born October 22, 1932, in Birmingham, Iowa to Earnest Jacob and Olive Helen (Kimmel) Leyden. She attended school in Washington. Treva was a wonderful homemaker and farm wife for many years, she loved life on the farm and enjoyed helping out in any way she could. She enjoyed being outside, tending to her flowers and garden. Something she also liked was feeding and watching the birds and was known to feed a stray cat or two. Treva’s greatest love was teaching others about Jehovah God and his Kingdom. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Washington.
She loved her large family and will be deeply missed by them but especially missed by her daughters, Becky Knebel, Billie (David) Taglauer, and Barbara (Philip) Schnoebelen. Her grandchildren are: Gene Hiller, Earnest (Lyndsey) Hiller, Angela Hiller, Tony (Rachel) Knebel, Bill (Jess) Knebel, Matthew Kilgore, Tristan Schnoebelen, and Thomas Schnoebelen; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Jean (John) Sliekers, and Kate (Keith) Sulzner; brothers: Kim (Joan) Leyden, Roger Leyden, and Eric Leyden; sisters-in-law; Donna Leyden, Sally Leyden and Jane Leyden; plus many, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Laura (Hiller)McClure; sisters: Mary (George) Davison, Cheri Sapp, and Ina Rae (Ed) Gappo; brothers: Phil Leyden, Jim Leyden, and Mike Leyden; and sisters-in-law, Linda Leyden and Sherry Leyden.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 115 Westview Dr., Washington, Iowa. Treva’s service will also be livestreamed via Zoom. The meeting I.D. is 812-9039-1816, passcode: 1919.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Treva’s name.
