Obituary of Ruth E. Leblond

Ruth E. (Foard) LeBlond, age 87 formerly of 350 Dublin Drive, died Friday, May 6, 2005 at the Windmill Manor Care Center in Coralville, Iowa. Family services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to Iowa City Hospice @ 1025 Wade Street, Iowa City, Iowa 52240 in Ruth’s memory. Online condolences may be sent for her family through our website @www.gayandciha.com. Ruth Elizabeth Foard LeBlond was born August 31, 1917, at Ft. Collins, Colorado, the daughter of William Euphrates and Winona D. (Houser) Foard. She was a graduate of Colorado State Teachers College in Greeley, Colorado. For a short time, she was an elementary school teacher. On June 1, 1942, she married Donald Edmund LeBlond in Greeley. The couple moved to Bellevue, Washington where Don was associated with Boeing Aircraft in Seattle. Here Ruth began a long career in retail sales with Frederick & Nelson Department Store, a division of Marshall Field. In Bellevue, she was a member of the Eastshore Unitarian Church and was active in the Camp Fire organization. She enjoyed baseball having been raised a St. Louis Cardinals fan she became an avid Seattle Mariner’s fan in later years. She enjoyed reading, family activities, especially camping, and loved to be with people. Her wonderful smile was spontaneous and warmed the lives of all those around her. Her family includes sons, David Thomas LeBlond and his wife, Karen of Anchorage, Alaska, and Dr. Richard Foard LeBlond and his wife, Annie; daughter, Marilyn Ruth LeBlond of Marysville, Washington; grandchildren, Jane LeBlond, Sueno LeBlond, Edgardo LeBlond, and Jennifer LeBlond; her sister, Marian Beltz of Godfrey, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald on August 7, 2004, sister, Evelyn Foard, and a brother, Robert Foard.
