In my funeral service days in Iowa City I always considered Mike a friendly competitor! His wicked sense of humor was indeed ever present, RIP Michael.

I have known Mike since I was in grade school. Dr. George Callahan was our family doctor and delivered both myself, and my 2 siblings.

Mike possessed a memorable laugh, was a friend and colleague and always greeted me with a smile and a wisecrack.

Rest well my friend.

I do not remember a time when I did not know Mike. George & Helen were friends of my grandparents and George was my doctor until his retirement. Mike was also friends with my uncle when I was growing up. Mike had a wicked sense of humor, but also a compassionate side. I extend my sympathies to his family and friends.

Mike was one of the funeral directors I got to know while working at Mercy Iowa City. His compassion and humor were memorable. He could of written a best seller about Iowa City history, people, places, politics and events. He was an excellent story teller. Also, he provided me wise counsel many times. I always considered him a friend. Thanks and peace to Mike.

Mike was a very kind and generous man and I am sure that everyone has many examples to share. Whenever I needed help, I knew that he was there. I think what I will remember most is his wry sense of humor that would make me laugh in not-so-great times. What a gift! He will be missed!
