Obituary of Clifford C. Deatsch

Clifford “Cliff” Deatsch age 67, of Iowa City died following a long illness on Saturday, June 19, 2004 at his daughter’s home in rural Tipton. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2004 at Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Burial will be in the Rochester Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Iowa City Hospice. Online condolences may be sent for family through our website at www.gayandciha.com. Clifford Charles Deatsch was born March 29, 1937 in Riverside, Iowa the son of George S. and Alice M. Thompson Deatsch. He attended rural schools and graduated from Parnell High School in Parnell, Iowa. He married Margaret Kutcher and later JoAnn Blough. Cliff worked for several trucking companies and for the last eleven years with L.L. Pelling as a semi driver. Cliff enjoyed life along with his family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed attending Iowa Football games, hunting, fishing and the great outdoors. He family includes his wife JoAnn of Iowa City, daughters, Mischelle and husband Jim Linnell of Iowa City, Virginia and fiancé Varney Borchert of Tipton, a son, Mike Deatsch of Missouri, six grandchildren Angela and husband James Jenkins, Jeremy and wife Sarah Borchert, Megan Helton, Dawn Deatsch, Shannasey Gannon and Bradley Deatsch, nine great grand children, three brothers Marvin and wife Pat Deatsch of Iowa City, Gary and wife Marie Deatsch of California and Jim and wife Sandy Deatsch of Holbrook along with numerous nieces, nephews and his dog Holly. He was preceded in death by his parents. The Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Cliff’s family and his services.
