Obituary of Jack A. Barnes

Jack Albert Barnes, age 79, of Marion and formerly of Iowa City died on October 16, 2004 at Crestview Acres Nursing Home in Marion following a long illness. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 21, 2004 at Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be on 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Memorials may be given to the Jack A. Barnes Memorial Fund. Online condolences may be sent for family through our website @ www.gayandciha.com. Jack A. Barnes was born on May 26, 1925 in Iowa City the son of Rollin E.and Carrie Treptow Barnes. He graduated from City High School in Iowa City. Jack worked at the University of Iowa Physical Plant until he retired in 1982. He then worked as a crossing guard in Iowa City. His family includes his children, Rollin Barnes and wife Deborah of Marion, Al “Barney” Barnes of Iowa City, Howard Searl and wife Margie of Iowa City, Ruth Ann Searl of Iowa City, Mary and husband Allan Schneider of Cedar Rapids, Tom Searl and wife Barb of Oxford, ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one brother, James Barnes and wife Carolyn of Auburn, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two wives. Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring Jack’s family and his services.
