Obituary of Wayne Leon Stone
Wayne Leon Stone, age 54, of 85 W. Penn St., North Liberty died on Friday, October 22, 2004 following a sudden illness at his home in North Liberty. Funeral services will at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at Grace Community Church, North Liberty. Burial with Military Rites will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Memorials may be given to the Wayne Stone Memorial Fund. Online condolences may be sent for family through our website @ www.gayandciha.com. Wayne was born on December 20, 1949 in Washington, Iowa the son of Eugene and Mary Davison Stone. He attended Washington Schools and served his country during the Vietnam War. He married Helen Jamieson on December 6, 1974 in Washington. They lived in Brighton and Iowa City before moving to North Liberty in 1990. Wayne was the Vault Manager for Lewis Systems of Iowa, Iowa City Division. He loved life and the people around him Wayne had nick names for everyone. For twelve years he and Helen shared in the love and joy of parenting Helens half brother Daren Jamison. Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and watching television. He was a member of the band Jack and the Rippers. He took great pride in and loved to play the drums. His family includes his wife, Helen of North Liberty, one brother, Donald Stone and wife Chris of West Branch, father in-law, Marvin Jamieson and sister in-law, Donna LeGrange both of Iowa City, brothers in-law, Danny Jamieson of Iowa City, James Jamieson and Kevin Jamieson both of West Branch, Daren Jamieson of Iowa City, two God children and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a half brother, brother in-law, his mother in-law and his step father in-law.
