Obituary of Ivan E. Frese

Ivan Frese, age 97 of rural Oxford died Sunday,June 12, 2005, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at the Oxford Chapel of Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Oxford. Burial will be at the Oxford Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 am Wednesday until services at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made in Ivan’s memory to Iowa City Hospice. Ivan was born May 10, 1908 in Oxford, the son of Edwin and Ada (Wagner) Frese. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1927. For a number of years Ivan worked in Chicago, Illinois returning to the family farm in Oxford just before the great depression. On May 26, 1934, he married Isabel Kraus in Dekalb, Illinois. The couple has farmed south of Oxford for over sixty years. His wife of nearly seventy years, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends throughout the years were his world. His family includes a son and his wife, Charles and Elayne Frese of Oxford; daughter, Juanita Cochran of Oxford; grandchildren, Curtis, Chris and Mike Frese, Paula Dunshee, Jeff and his wife, Chris Cochran, and Lisa and her husband, Phil Feinberg; five great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Joe, Tanner, Shelby, and Arron; brothers, Frank Frese of Hiawatha, and Ted Frese of Homestead; sister, Luella Rose of Cedar Rapids; sister-in-law, Dorothy Frese of Amana; and a niece, Virginia Scheetz of Oxford. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Isabel on October 19, 2003; brother, Martin Frese, and sister-in-law, Louise Frese.
