Obituary of Ruth E. Swaner

Her surviving family includes a brother, James R. Swaner, Iowa City, a sister, Marilyn Kesseberger, also of Iowa City, several nieces and nephews and cousins. Her parents, John J. and Ruth Ray Swaner preceded her in death. The daughter of John J. and Ruth Ray Swaner, Ruth Eleanor Swaner was born on October 12, 1921 in Iowa City. She graduated from high school in Iowa City and attended the University of Iowa. She was a member of Alpha XI Delta Sorority. Ruth lived in Virginia and Indiana before returning to Iowa City in 1954. She served as an administrative assistant at Home Town Dairies until she retired in 1989. Ruth was a resident at Oaknoll for twenty years. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City. She had a great interest in and knowledge of art and music and will be remembered as a considerate, caring and thoughtful women who made friends easily and always had an engaging smile. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Oaknoll Retirement Residence or St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Iowa City.
