Obituary of Harry F. Kramer

Harry F. Kramer, age 87 formerly of Coralville died Thursday, November 10, 2005, at his son’s residence near Lone Tree following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m., Monday, November 14, 2005, at the Christ the King Lutheran Church in Iowa City with the Reverend David Aanonson officiating. Burial with military honors will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Coralville. Visitation will be from 3 to 5pm Sunday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, and after 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Harry Frederick Kramer was born May 25, 1918, in Black Hawk County, Iowa the son of Harry G. and Minnie L. (Scholtz) Kramer. He was a graduate of Carson High School in Marengo, Iowa. During World War II, Harry served his country in the United States Army Air Corps. Where he was trained as an airplane mechanic working in British Guina, South America, in charge of thirty mechanics in the capacity as flight chief. On February 8, 1957, he married Mary Jane (Scott) Malmberg in Chicago, Illinois. For many years the couple owned and operated the Coralville Sawmill. He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Iowa City and the Walter Johnson Post #721 of the American Legion in Coralville. His family includes his wife, Mary; son and his wife, Randy and Leta Kramer of Lone Tree; step-son and his wife, Terry and Mary Lee Malmberg of Cedar Rapids; sister, Marian Schafbuch of Springfield, MO; grandchildren, Michael Kramer and his wife, Genna of North Liberty, Vanessa Kramer of Coralville, Nicholas Kramer of Coralville, Matthew Malmberg of Cedar Rapids, and Michael Malmberg of Cedar Rapids; great-grandchildren, Dillon Roberts and Emily Rundell. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-daughter, Cheryl Malmberg, sisters, Helen Hibbs and Evelyn Kramer. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Harry’s family and his services
