Obituary of Lorna A. Howard

Lorna A. Howard, age 79, formerly of 2119 E. Court St, Iowa City died Friday January 28, 2005 at the Lone Tree Care Center of a lengthy illness. There will be a graveside service 10:30 am Tuesday at St. John’s Cemetery in Sharon Center with Reverend Daniel Krueger officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Monday at the Gay and Ciha Funeral Service in Iowa City. Memorial donations may be made in Lorna’s name to the Iowa City Animal Shelter or the Ronald McDonald House. Lorna was born December 14, 1925 to Frank and Lulu Kutchenriter of Johnson County. She was a lifetime resident of the Iowa City area belonging to Zion Lutheran Church for many years. Lorna spent her time working at Burge Hall as a cook serving the needs of generations of college students. Along with her dedication to her job, she shared that dedication and love equally with her life long four legged companions. Animals, specifically cats and dogs were among some of Lorna’s dearest friendships. Her family includes her daughter Laurie and husband Doug Sanden of Cedar Rapids and grand daughters Ashley Springer and Melinda Sanden. Lorna was preceded in death by her husband Willis Howard, parents and step-sister.
