Obituary of Estelle G. Moore Hahn

Estelle G. Moore Hahn, age 92 formerly of rural Iowa City died Saturday, August 21, 2004 at Lantern Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Coralville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 25, 2004, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Burial at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City. Following the services on Wednesday, there will be a time of refreshments at the Cookson Memorial Home in West Branch for family and friends. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in her memory to the Cookson Memorial Home in West Branch or the West Branch Fire Department. Online condolences may be sent for Estelle’s family through our website @www.gayandciha.com. Estelle was born February 1, 1912, in Iowa City the daughter of Edward and Stella (Novak) Sulek. She graduated from Iowa City City High School in 1929 and from Business College one year later. She married Guy E. Moore July 31, 1933, in Morrison, Illinois. For many years, she worked in the Johnson County Auditors Office until the death of her husband, Guy in 1960. On December 14, 1962, Estelle married Herbert H. Hahn in Iowa City. The couple farmed in Graham Township northeast of Iowa City until poor health forced them to retire. After Herbert’s death in 2000, Estelle moved to the Cookson Memorial Home in West Branch where she resided until moving to the Lantern Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Coralville this past week. She was a former member of the Iowa City Eagles Lodge Auxiliary and a member of the Johnson County Farm Bureau. Her family includes a very special nephew, James Sulek of Scottsdale, AZ; cousins, Bernice Ketrow and Gladys Peterson both of Cedar Rapids; brother-in-law, Vance Moore of Iowa City; two sisters-in-law, Alice Fuhrmeister and Rose Gilmore both of Iowa City, Rose has been Estelle’s longtime care provider. There are also twenty other nieces and nephews who survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and two brothers.
