Obituary of Donna M. Frauenholz

Donna Marie Frauenholz, age 71 of Iowa City died Friday, November 12, 2004 at the Crestview Nursing & Rehab Center in West Branch. Memorial Services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 15, 2004, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with the Reverend Beverly Hovenkamp officiating. Family committal services will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery earlier in the day. Everyone is welcome for a reception following the memorial service to be held at the Saddlebrook Community Center Monday evening. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Donna’s memory to Iowa City Hospice. Online condolences may be sent to her family through our website @www.gayandciha.com. Donna Marie (Myrant) Frauenholz was born April 10, 1933, in North Dakota, the daughter of Herbert and Syneva (Sem) Myrant. She attended Iowa City schools graduating from City High School in 1951. On October 4, 1954, she married Richard Foster ‘Bud” Frauenholz in Marion, Iowa. For many years she worked in clothing retail at a number of stores in this area including Alden’s, Roshek’s, Von Maur, and along with her dear friend, Mary Jean Kessler they owned and operated Queens Ransom Boutique. Most recently, she has worked for HyVee retiring after six years of employment. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, where she also was on the Moose Ritual Team. Her family includes three sons and their wives, Richard A. Frauenholz and Barbara of Tipton, David L. Frauenholz and Linda of Phoenix, AZ and Dennis F. Frauenholz and Michelle of Iowa City; grandchildren, Amanda J. Frauenholz, Anna M. Frauenholz, Ali J Frauenholz, Ryan F. Frauenholz, Shaylee L. Frauenholz, Sasha M. Frauenholz; niece, Stacey Myrant of Greeley, CO; sister-in-law, Joyce Rabedeaux of Newton; special friends, Jim York of Iowa City, and Ilene Holbrook and her family of Iowa City. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, in-laws, Roy and Verna Frauenholz, and brother, Kenneth Myrant. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Donna’s family and her services.
