Obituary of James M. 'Jim&apos Brack

James M. “Jim” Brack, age 86 of rural Iowa City died Monday, March 15, 2004, at his home following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 18, 2004, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City with the Reverend Rudolph Berndt officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City. Following services at the cemetery everyone is invited to return to the church’s parish hall for a time of fellowship and lunch. Visitation will be from 4 to 7p.m. today at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service where a parish rosary will be said at 7pm this evening. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Iowa City Hospice or to the charity of your choice. Online condolences may be sent for Jim’s family through our website @www.gayandciha.com. James Manley Brack was born April 27, 1917, in Oxford, Iowa the son of Antone and Anna (Corbette) Brack. During the depression years, he worked through the Federal CCC program building Lake McBride. On May 11, 1938, he married Mary Zimmerman at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City. The couple has farmed northeast of Iowa City for many years. Jim was a social member of the Solon American Legion and the Morse Community Club. He was a man of great wit and humor, always enjoying a good laugh. He did not know a stranger and he enjoyed meeting new friends. Jim was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family and friends will miss his love and passion for life. Jim’s family includes his wife, Mary; son and his wife, James Gary and Patsy Brack of Iowa City; daughter and her husband, Carol and John Molyneux of Casper, WY; grandchildren, Sherri Breece, Marcia Wilkens, Larry Richmond III, Gary Brack, Patrick Brack, Joanna Robinson, and Teresa Shaban; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Kristen, Elliott, Tulonga, Amanda, Crystal, Latisha, John, Amber, Dane, Dustin, Amanda, Danny, Christina, Stephan, and Josh; brother and his wife, Laverle “Curly: and Vera Brack of Mankato, MN; and sister, Mary Soukup of West Branch. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and five sisters.
