Obituary of Dorothy G. Neppl

Dorothy G. Neppl, age 83 of 2423 Walden Road, Iowa City died Monday, August 8, 2005, at Greenwood Manor Care Center in Iowa City after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 17, 2005, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Iowa City with the Reverend Rudolph Juarez officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9am until 10am at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Dorothy’s memory. Online condolences may be sent for Dorothy’s family through our website @www.gayandciha.com. Dorothy Gertrude Heue Neppl was born September 23, 1921, in Carroll, Iowa the daughter of Henry and Josephine (Jensen) Heue. She attended and graduated from high school in Carroll. For a number of years she worked for Farner-Bocken Company in Carroll. On August 10, 1943, Dorothy was united in marriage to Leo W. Neppl at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The couple resided in a number of communities in northwest Iowa, living in Algona for nearly twenty-seven years before moving to Iowa City in 1991. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Iowa City. Dorothy was an expert seamstress who loved crafts and sewing. Over the years she made many beautiful quilts and cross-stitched designs for her family. Her family includes her husband, Leo; children, Thomas Neppl and his wife, Maureen Neppl of Newburgh, NY, Ruth Lindeen and her husband, Dr. Michael Lindeen of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Jane Boehm and her husband, Colin Boehm of Iowa City, Dave Neppl and his wife, Beth Neppl of Dallas, TX, and Steven Nepp and his wife, Barb Nepp of Waukee, IA; twelve grandchildren, and sisters, Lavina Nelson of Albuquerque, NM and Lois Gehling of Grand Meadow, MN. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Paul Heue, and sisters, Cleo Burke and Elaine Wiedemier. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Dorothy’s family and services.
