Obituary of Keith R. Fulton

Keith R. Fulton, age 74 of 614 3rd. Avenue, Iowa City, died Saturday, August 27, 2005, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 30, 2005, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with the Reverend Michael Phillips officiating. Burial with military honors will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 3 to 7pm Monday at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made in Keith’s memory to Iowa City Hospice or Camp Courageous. Following the services at the cemetery family and friends are invited for a reception to be held at the IOOF Hall @ 1839 B Street, Iowa City. Online condolences may be sent for Keith’s family through our website @www.gayandciha.com. Keith Rogers Fulton was born September 3, 1930, in Iowa City, the son of Jesse and Laura (Kindl) Fulton. He attended schools in Iowa City graduating from City High School. While there he lettered in basketball, football and baseball. During the Korean Conflict, Keith served in the United States Army in the 4th. Infantry Division, serving in Germany. Returning from service, Keith was employed at Carl Chadek Trucking Company from 1956 through 1968. Early in his job he met the boss’s daughter, Jeannette Chadek, and the rest is history. They were married August 17, 1957, in Iowa City. Following his years at Carl Chadek Trucking, he was employed as a heavy equipment operator by the Corps of Engineers at the Coralville Lake, retiring after twenty-two years of service in 1990. He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, a number of camping clubs including, Holiday Rambler Recreational Camping Club, Herky City Sams, and Lasso E Camping Club. Keith loved the outdoors, camping with family and friends, hunting, bow hunting, archery, mowing grass at home and for others, often times with Boo as his sidekick. He enjoyed bowling, softball, bluegrass music, collecting belt buckles, caps, and John Deere Memorabilia including all 25 models of the Precision II series. Keith treasured the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and their dogs, Boo, Shadow,Tyrone, Jake, Tori, and Max. He enjoyed camping, sitting around the campfire, eating his snickers, drinking a Pepsi, his favorite dessert was a piece of pie, and best of all telling a good joke to anyone that would listen. His family includes his wife, Jeannette Ann Fulton; their children, Mike Fulton and his wife, Karyn of Iowa City; Martha Fulton of Iowa City and her children, Logan and Keaton Moore; Mark Fulton and his wife, Cathy of Iowa City and their children, Connor, Becca, and Mary; and Melissa Hull and her husband, Wayne of North Liberty and their children, Tayler Hull, and Trisha Herring and her daughter, Trinity; brothers, Charles Fulton and his wife, Josephine of Iowa City, his twin , Ken Fulton and his wife, Marilyn Fulton of Iowa City; and Bill Fulton and his wife, Toni of North Liberty; sister-in-law, Rita Fulton of Omaha, NE; father-in-law, Carl Chadek of Iowa City, and many nieces and nephews. Keith was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Gene and Richard Fulton and a brother in infancy; sister, Betty Courtney, and his mother-in-law, Frieda Chadek.
