He attended country school in Johnson County and graduated from Oxford High School in 1947. He married Anna Joyce Kapfer on May 10, 1950, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oxford. He farmed south of Oxford for many years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church Oxford. He is survived by two sons: Dan (Dianna) Brack, Terry (Brenda) Brack; four daughters Kathy Brack, Marcia Dawson, Michelle Brack all of Oxford and Sandy (Craig) Newkirk of Homestead; son-in-law, Laren Wille of Belle Plaine; sister Janet (Richard) Kron of Riverside, ten grandchildren: Anthony Brack, Sara McConnell, Kristina and Kyle Wille, Katrina Brown, Elizabeth and Hannah Newkirk, Jeffrey and Anna Dawson, Michael Brack and one great-grandson Tyler McClure. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce, his daughter Susan Wille, his parents and two sisters, Elaine Argotsinger and Mary Teresa Brack. He enjoyed everything to do with farming and being in the country. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, Farmall tractors, and the changing seasons. Richard was a loving and devoted husband, patient father, and gentle grandfather. He was a man of undying faith and truly believed “There is an appointed time for everything, and a time for every affair under heaven. A time to be born, and a time to die: a time to plant, and a time to uproot the plant…” Ecclesiastes Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Oxford and Iowa City is caring for Richard’s family and his services.
