Obituary of Dolores G. Kelly

Dolores R. Kelly, age 71, died Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a sudden illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, February 21, 2005 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Reverend Rudolph Juarez officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00-8:00 p.m., at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in her name. Dolores was born October 13, 1933 in Iowa City, the daughter of Alice (Paxton) and Harold Slach. She attended schools in Iowa City and Solon. She married James ‘Jim’ Kelly on November 20, 1954 in Iowa City. Dolores was employed as a meter maid and as an Information Desk operator for the City of Iowa City. Dolores’ family includes a son, Denny Kelly and his wife, Carolyn of Iowa City, two daughters, Cindy Gorvin of Solon and Lori Kelly and fiancé, Rex Lawson of Harriman, Tennessee; her grandchildren, Mandy and her husband, Christian Jorgensen, Heather and her husband, Donyeal Galbreath, Amber Gorvin, Ashley Gorvin and James Gorvin III and Cody Kelly; great-grandchildren, Carly and Hannah Jorgensen, and Danyeal and Dayvon Galbreath. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jim in 2001, an infant son, Brian and a son-in-law, Jim Gorvin II.
