Obituary of Margaret A. Hamilton

Margaret A. “Marge” Hamilton, age 60 of Hills, died Saturday, February 5, 2005, at Lantern Park Nursing & Rehab Center in Coralville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 9, 2005, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hills. Burial will be at the St. Stanislaus Cemetery near Hills. Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm Tuesday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Memorial donations can be made in Marge’s memory to Iowa City Hospice. Margaret Ann Heitzman Hamilton was born October 18, 1944 in Kissimmee, FL, the daughter of Paul and Jean (Kern) Heitzman. Following graduation from Regina High School in 1962, she was employed at Hills Bank & Trust Company. She later worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital and the Catholic Vicariate Office both in Iowa City. She married Dennis S. “Pinky” Hamilton on June 30, 1966 in Hills. The couple had lived all their married lives in Hills. Her husband, Pinky died February 8, 2004. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hills. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren; Marge enjoyed the Iowa Hawkeye’s, Elvis Presley, helping others, and her dog, Lady. Those who have known Marge knew that she was a fighter, overcoming many things in her life, with surviving cancer being one of her most proud accomplishments. Her family includes two sons and their wives, Tom and Sandy Hamilton of Davenport, and Jay and Alicia Hamilton of Fremont, NE; three grandchildren, Madeline, Jackson, and Collin Hamilton; two brothers and their wives, Dick and Becky Heitzman, and Bill and Nancy Heitzman all of Hills, and her step-mother, Edna Heitzman of Iowa City. Marge was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Tom Heitzman. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City and Hills is caring for Marge’s family and her services.
