Obituary of Ruth V. White

Ruth V. White age 74 of 630 S. Governor St. Iowa City died on Tuesday, August 26, 2003 at Greenwood Manor in Iowa City. Private graveside funeral services will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Memorials may be given to Iowa City Hospice. Ruth was born on January 31, 1929 in Iowa City the daughter of Aubrey and Cleora Chamberlin White. She attended City High School in Iowa City followed by two years of Interior Design School. Following school she worked at Iowa Book and Supply downtown Iowa City and then the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinic’s for thirty years in various positions. Ruth was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star White Shrine of Jerusalem and the American Business Women’s Association, Grant Wood Chapter in Iowa City. Ruth enjoyed her family and was the primary care giver for her parents in their later years. Ruth’s family includes a sister, Carolyn Westfall of Urbana, Illinois: two sisters in-law: June White of Iowa City and Janet (Falls) Cramer and husband Web of Coralville, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Her parents and five siblings: Helen Hirt, Robert (Bob) White, Don White, Jeanne Hoppe and Jerry White preceded her in death. The Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service are caring for Ruth’s services and her family.
