Obituary of Kenneth W. Bream

Kenneth W. Bream, age 71 of 3147 Balfour Place, Iowa City died at his home surrounded by his family Friday, October 29, 2004. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 2, 2004, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City with the Reverend Michael Phillips officiating. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Monday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Memorial donations can be made in Ken’s memory to Iowa City Hospice. Online condolences may be sent for his family through our website @www.gayandciha.com. Ken was born November 10, 1932, in Johnson County the son of Clarence and Violet (Myers) Bream. He grew up in Iowa City attending Iowa City schools, graduating from City High School in 1951. On July 28, 1953, Ken married Mildred “Tootie” Miller at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. For over thirty-five years, Ken was employed with Proctor & Gamble in Iowa City. He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, and the Moose Lodge. In years past, Ken enjoyed bowling on the P& G team, hunting and fishing. If you knew Ken you knew his love for his family, golfing. woodworking, John Wayne and western movies, going on cruises, and a little gambling on the side. His family includes his wife, Tootie; sons, Kenneth W. Bream II and his wife, Sharon of Letts, Ia, and Steve Bream and his wife, Gail of Solon; daughter, Deb Irvin and her husband Dick of Iowa City; grandchildren, Kenneth W. Bream III, Travis, Jacob, David, Andrew, Brett, Bryan, Colin, Chris, Mark and Stephanie; brothers and their wives, Bill and Rita Bream of Oxford, Allan and Carol Bream of Florida, Gary and Susan Bream of Alabama, Ron and Carol Bream of Homestead, Bob and Betty Bream of Coralville, and Dale and Alicia Bream of Iowa City; sisters and their husbands, Arlene and John Spenner of Riverside, Paulette and Jerry Bolton of Tennessee, and Emily and Francis Lewis of Iowa City. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and a sister. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Ken’s family and his services.
