Obituary of Patricia A. Isaacs
Patricia A. Pat Isaacs, age 54 of rural Iowa City died unexpectly at her home, Friday, July 15, 2005. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 21, 2005, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City, with the Reverend Michael T. Phillips officiating. Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 3 to 7pm Wednesday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, where a parish vigil and rosary service will begin at 7pm. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Pats memory. Patricia Ann Matthess Isaacs was born April 18, 1951, in Iowa City the daughter of Maynard O. and Dorothy (Cox) Matthess. Following graduation from Tipton High School in 1971 she married John Fremont Isaacs on January 29, 1972 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Tipton. The couple has farmed south of Iowa City for many years; she also worked at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City for a number of years retiring in patient escort services. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and the National Catholic Society of Foresters. Throughout the years Pat has been the caretaker of many members in her family and Johns, something she always did with much compassion and love. She enjoyed scrap booking, visiting with friends and neighbors, attending as many neighborhood social events as possible and was known by many for her gossiping and her two dogs, Ashley the bassett hound, and Abby the yorkie. Her family includes her husband, John; three sons and their wives, John Henry and Jessica Isaacs of Parnell, Thomas and Lynne Isaacs of Iowa City, and Charles and Bryanna Isaacs of Iowa City; four grandchildren, Dalton, Austyn, Ella, and Riley Isaacs; brothers, Michael Matthess of Tipton, Billy Jo and his wife, Irene Matthess of Marengo, and Barry and his wife, Joyce Matthess of Iowa City; sisters, Betty Webb and her husband, Frank of Riverside, Mary Matthess of Tipton, and Lonnie Matthess of Stanwood; half brothers, Paul and his wife, Linda Matthess of Marengo, Ron and Don Matthess both of Iowa City; Pats godmother, Emilie Young of Oxford; and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins. Pat was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws.
