Obituary of Claude E. Hime

Claude E. Hime, age 48 of Iowa City died Friday, September 30, 2005, in Cedar Rapids from injuries from a fall sustained at work. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 4, 2005, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with Reverend Judy Gingerich officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 3 to 7pm Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his memory through the funeral home or Hills Bank & Trust Company. Online condolences may be sent for Claude’s family through our website @www.gayandciha.com. Claude Ely Hime was born July 13, 1957, in Iowa City the son of Clyde B. and Margaret (Halstead) Hime. He graduated from Clear Creek High School in 1976. On February 10, 1984, he married Pam Maedge in Iowa City. He has lived in the Iowa City - Oxford area all of his life. At the time of his death he was a commercial watertight technician working for Cedar Service of Cedar Rapids. Claude enjoyed life, he loved spending time with his family, especially he young grandchildren, and was excited knowing that he had another granddaughter on the way. Often you could find him walking his three dogs, hanging out with his friends, but second only to his family was his love of the Green Bay Packers! His family includes his wife, Pam; two daughters, Dawn Hime and Jessica Hime and her fiancé, Chris Smull; two grandchildren, Hannah and Alex; mother, Margaret McAfee; and his half-sister, Carroll Whetstine all of Iowa City. Claude was preceded in death by his father, daughter, Debra; and a sister, Diana Austin. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Claude’s family and his services.
