Obituary of Luretta M. Kinsinger

Luretta M. Kinsinger, age 92 of Coralville died Monday, May 30, 2005, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 2, 2005, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with the Reverends Kenneth and Lorraine Hartman officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Luretta’s memory. Online condolences may be sent for her family through our website @www.gayandciha.com. Luretta Margaret Campbell Kinsinger was born February 7, 1913, in rural Johnson County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Earl Campbell Sr. and Viola Beals Campbell. She married Clifford Kinsinger on February 14, 1946, in Iowa City. She was a lifetime resident of Johnson County. She worked as the manager of the cafeteria at Central Junior High School in Iowa City for a number of years.. Luretta was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Iowa City, also a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Solon American Legion. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, playing cards, gardening and camping, but most of all she loved her three granddaughters and all of her family. Her family includes a daughter, Elaine Sortor of Davenport; a son, Gary Kinsinger and Beth Svenson of Coralville; three granddaughters, Julie Kinsinger of North Liberty, Michelle Sortor of Rochester, MN and Melissa Sortor of Davenport and her fiancé, Sean McGinnis of Colorado; two sisters, Remona Roth of Iowa City, and Kathleen Kinsinger and her husband, Orville of Iowa City. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clifford; sister, Dorothy Campbell; brother, Earl Campbell Jr.; and a son-in-law, Everett Sortor. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Luretta’s family and her services.
