Obituary of Russell apos;Bud' R. Sherlock

His family includes his son, Roger Sherlock of Hong Kong; daughters, Barbara Hoots of Kansas City, MO, and Sara Sherlock of Iowa City; five grandchildren, Lori, Lisa, Lance, Rick and Tammi; seven great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Katie, Brad, Andrew, Grace, Ben, and Emma; a sister, Helen Johnson of Oxford; and a special friend who has assisted Bud in his care for a number of years since Eleanor’s death, Janet Stutzman of Kalona. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Robert Sherlock, and three brothers. Russell R. Sherlock was born December 18, 1913, in rural Iowa County, Iowa the son of Robert and Libbey (Nesmith) Sherlock. On November 25, 1938, he married Eleanor Sponar in Iowa City. The couple has lived their entire lives in this area and since 1973 in Kalona. Eleanor died July 1, 1994 from injuries sustained in an auto accident. For those who knew Bud, you knew a gentle man who loved the farm, and loved his livestock. A “true cattleman” he would like to be remembered as. A memorial fund has been established in his memory.
