Obituary of Eldred apos;Sandy&apos Heitshusen, Jr.

His family includes his wife, Carolyn; daughters, Jill Thompson and her husband, Mitch of Sioux Falls, SD, Mindy Broveak and her husband, Alan of Sioux Falls, SD; and Darcy O’Hanlon of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Taylor and Eric; sisters, Cheryl Lindley and her husband, Rich of Cedar Rapids, Pamela Heitshusen McComas of Coralville; a brother and his wife, John and Laura Heitshusen of Lawrence, KS; nieces and nephews, Kevan Lindley, Allison Peterson, Holly Ashley, Todd Heitshusen, Scott Heitshusen, and Zachary McComas; and his faithful and special friend, his dog, Chelsea. Sandy was preceded in death by his parents. Eldred Carl Heitshusen Jr. was born March 19, 1945, in Zanesville, Ohio the son of Eldred Carl Heitshusen Sr. and Billie Joan (Trunnell) Heitshusen. Their family moved to the Iowa City area when he was young where he attended Iowa City Schools, graduating from Iowa City City High School in 1963. For many years, he worked as a car salesman for dealerships in the Iowa City and Marengo areas. On June 20, 1990, he married Carolyn Ann Yedlik at a ceremony at Kent Park, in rural Johnson County. Sandy enjoyed life, playing football, basketball, baseball, swimming, biking, bowling, hiking and of course his golfing. Those Iowa Hawkeye’s always had a fan when it came to Sandy, especially in the later years with the Iowa Wrestlers. With all of this, his family and friends meant the world to him and him to them; he loved enjoying life with those around him. Memorial donations can be given in his memory to Iowa City Hospice or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Iowa.
